SGS Dioxin Group specializes in trace level analysis of dioxins, furans, PCBs, and other persistent organic pollutants or POP’s. We are considered to be one of the most responsive dioxin laboratories in North America.
We are proud of our consistently high level of data acceptance under the most scrutinizing data guidelines for government agencies such as the U.S. Department of Defense and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. We have fully supported public, and private sector organization’s work plans, and time schedules with our timely and accurate laboratory analysis of environmental, product and feed stock samples since 1994.

Our 20,000 sq.ft environmental laboratory is headquartered in Wilmington, North Carolina, which features a state-of-the-art automated dioxin testing.
Dioxin Projects
- World Trade Center
SGS Dioxin Group was called on to analyze soil, ash, air and wipe samples for dioxins and PCB homologs in the days and months following the tragedy. This work helped to support human risk exposure studies, and SGS was one of the primary support labs for this effort.
- Deleware River Basin Commission (DRBC)
SGS Dioxin Group participated in the development of extraction and analysis procedures utilized in the establishment of Total Maximum Daily Loads (TMDLs) for PCB congeners. We continue to support monitoring efforts for the DRBC.
- Large Sediment Sites
SGS is routinely providing ongoing support for large contaminated sediment sites such as: Portland Harbor - Hudson River - Toledo Harbor - Norfolk Harbor - Newark Bay and many others.
- Industrial Incineration
SGS analyzes dioxin levels resulting from combustion in a variety of industrial settings.
